Anime Zero Defend Mode: Protect the Store or Core
Protect the Anime Zero Defend objective, return when enemies threaten it, and distinguish a destroyed target from personal defeat.
Anime Zero Defend mode requires protecting the store or core from enemies. The defended target can be destroyed while your character is still alive, so personal survival and objective survival must both guide your decisions.
This gameplay includes a Defend attempt and illustrates why returning to the target matters when it is under attack.
Locate the target before chasing enemies
At the start, identify the object you are defending and the visible information about its condition. Keep its location in mind when moving toward an enemy. Chasing one distant target is a poor trade if other attackers can reach the store or core unattended.
When enemies attack the objective, return and deal with that threat. You may still need to reposition to avoid damage, but moving safely should leave you able to defend the target rather than taking you permanently away from it.
Use attacks to relieve objective pressure
Choose an attack whose reach or area fits the enemies near the target. If they group together, a suitable area ability can address several threats at once. If the ability is unavailable, use another action you can land safely while watching the next incoming threat.
| Situation | Action | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Enemies reach the target | Return and attack the immediate threat | Reduce damage to the defended object |
| You chase a distant enemy | Check the target before continuing | Avoid leaving other attackers unattended |
| Several enemies cluster near the objective | Use an available area attack that reaches them | Relieve grouped pressure |
| The run ends while you remain alive | Review the target's condition | Distinguish objective loss from character defeat |
Diagnose the failed attempt correctly
If the target was destroyed, review where you were when pressure built up. More personal health will not by itself repair a habit of abandoning the objective. If your character died first, inspect the positioning and survival problem that prevented continued defense.
Retest with a clearer priority: the immediate threat to the target, then your safe position, then any distant enemy. Read mode comparison to compare this objective with Story and Infinite, or ability rotation if attacks were unavailable at the wrong time.
Use the live mode and reward panels in the official Anime Zero experience to confirm the current requirements for the run you are planning.
